Places to Track Podcamp Ohio This Weekend

Written by brandice on June 27, 2008 – 11:37 pm -

We have a disadvantage to many Podcamps, due to the fact that Twitter‘s tracking is currently turned off. To communicate with everyone about Podcamp Ohio, use the “@PodcampOhio” reply, and then here are a couple of ways you can manage/track that feed:

FRIENDFEED – We have a room, feel free to share, comment, discuss! RSS feed for Summize results imported here, as well as RSS for blog, and Twitter accounts.

SUMMIZE #1 – Twitters with “@PodcampOhio” in the text

SUMMIZE #2 – Twitters with “Podcamp Ohio” in the text

And of course, follow “PodcampOhio” for official announcements and tidbits throughout the day, and if you want to see the checkins, following “PodOhioCheckin” to watch everyone’s arrival in the morning/afternoon.

Pre-Podcamp Party Wrap-up

Written by Doctor Anonymous on June 26, 2008 – 10:51 pm -

What a great time we had tonight! I would like to thank everyone who participated in the call tonight including Angelo, Brandice, Gabe, Mitch, Travis, Daniel, DG & Court. (Hope I didn’t forget anyone). Even though we talked for two hours, it went by really fast. And, I think that this is a little snapshot of what is going to happen Saturday at Podcamp. Have a safe trip to Columbus. We’ll see you soon! (see video post above)

Need a dance break during PodCamp Ohio?

Written by kait on June 23, 2008 – 12:34 pm -

If you find yourself needing a dance break, background music for your personal podcast or some relief from the pressure of your iPod headphones during PodCamp Ohio, you’re in luck. Mike Genovese, a solo, acoustic musician from Columbus, Ohio (via Cleveland), will provide lunchtime tunes at PCO starting at 12:30p at ITT.

Read his official below to find out more, but I can tell you from experience, it’s sure to be a good time!

—–

Mike captures audiences with his engaging live performances. Inspired by artists Tim Reynolds, Howie Day and Joseph Arthur, Mike incorporates the use of a technique called “looping” or “sampling” that happens LIVE by adding layers of sounds, finally creating the presence of a full band. You’ll be tapping your feet when Mike cuts phat beats (yes, phat…) live on-stage to accompany his songs.

Although still relatively new to the music scene, Mike has shared the stage with many national acts including: Pat McGee Band, Ari Hest, Matt Wertz, Mat Kearney, Jump (little children), Lifehouse, Tim Reynolds, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, Virginia Coalition, Jack Johnson, G. Love and Special Sauce, Blessid Union of Souls, Matt White, ZOX, Michael Tolcher, Rusted Root, Collective Soul, Cary Brothers, The Clarks, Josh Hoge, Mason Jennings, Blue October, Carbon Leaf, Red Wanting Blue, Oval Opus, Mieka Pauley, and The Damnwells.

Watch for Mike’s latest CD due out this year!

Friday’s Visit to ITT – Great Venue Location

Written by angelo on May 4, 2008 – 12:24 am -

Mary, Jason, Gabe and I (Angelo) visited ITT this past Friday to check out the facilities. I must say, ITT has gone above and beyond to help us put on PodCamp Ohio this year. We cannot thank them enough for the opportunity!

Our first task was to assess the rooms available. One of the rooms available to us the entire day is perfect for our First Aid room for podcasters to setup their computers and practice podcasting. While taking pictures of the other rooms, we discovered 5 break out rooms that will be available to us as well. These are perfect rooms for those who may want to have a discussion or record interviews outside of the hallways. We also took some pictures of the lounge area, which will have vending machines and plenty of seating for socializing and networking.

We also inquired about Internet access for the event. Each projector has an ethernet port available for the presenter. In addition, there will be wireless access available as well. The wireless access will most likely be made available via a guest account. We will get more details for this when we’re closer to the event.

Session Idea – Lightning Sessions on Specific Topics

Written by angelo on February 22, 2008 – 9:43 am -

I have to say, last nights meeting was awesome! A lot of new ideas came about during the meeting. One in particular is a mash-up of Scott’s idea of having lighting sessions with the idea that the lightning sessions would be focused on a particular topic.

Here are my initial thoughts. The topics for these lightning sessions will need to attract multiple speakers, a topic that many podcasters and bloggers feel comfortable contributing to the conversation. Topics that come to mind are Web Site Tools (speakers talk for 5 minutes on tools they recommend for their blog/podcast web site) or Hardware Recommendations (speakers talk for 5 minutes on hardware they recommend, briefly how to use, etc…). What other session ideas are there that many podcasters would want to speak about?

Speaking for myself, I don’t plan on speaking at a full 1 hour session, but I would feel conformable speaking for 5 minutes on something specific such as WordPress plugins useful for WordPress web sites.

To see if this would work, please comment on this post with your ideas or thoughts if you would like to be a lightning speaker and/or what topics you would like in a lighting session. If there is enough interest, then we may give it a try with 1-2 sessions.
