Calling All Volunteers!

We are seeking volunteers for PodCamp Ohio. There are three areas where you can help.

1. Registration – Greet attendees, help guests sign in and help hand out event bags and t-shirts.
2. Session Assistant – Help speakers and attendees find rooms and assist speakers with getting setup where necessary.
3. Record Sessions – Assist Coefficient Media with recording (audio and/or video) the sessions.

If you would like to assist us, please email volunteer [at] podcampohio.com and indicate which of the three areas above you would like to volunteer for. Please include your t-shirt size and any time restraints you may have during the day. We need your response by June 15th so we can order your t-shirt.

Pre-Event Volunteer Schedule

• Meetup 7, Saturday, June 21 at Panera Bread by ITT 11am – Go over the event day game plan for Registration and Sessions with volunteers and organizers. at 1pm, we will take a brief tour of the school and go over questions anyone may have.
• Group Dinner, Friday, June 27 at Damon’s next to ITT @ 6pm – Everyone, including attendees are welcome to join us at the Damon’s by ITT for dinner. PLEASE BRING YOUR WALLETS, THIS DINNER IS NOT SPONSORED, SORRY EVERYONE.
• Event Walk Through – Friday, June 27 at ITT @ 8pm – We will do a brief walk through ITT and if there is time, setup tables for registration. Organizers and Volunteers are strongly encouraged to make it to this walk through.
• Wind down – Friday, June 27 at Damon’s @ 9pm – We’ll be hanging out at the Damon’s next to ITT following the Walk Through. This will be a great opportunity for Organizers and Volunteers to mingle with speakers and attendees who just arrived into town who are looking to wind down the evening before the big day.
• Early Morning – Saturday, June 28 at ITT @ 8am – Volunteers meet to setup registration and start signing in guests.
• PodCamp Opens – Saturday, June 28 at ITT @ 9am – Start signing in guests and assisting attendees.

Post-Event Volunteer Schedule

• Closing – 5:30pm – Clean up; return tables to their correct classrooms, pick up garbage, etc…
• Dave and Busters – 6pm – Meet at Dave and Busters to relax and play some games!

New Media Cincinnati meetup tomorrow!

The New Media Cincinnati meetup is meeting tomorrow, Saturday, June 7th from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Tri-county mall Panera bread, 405 East Kemper Road, Springdale, OH 45246 (map). More details may be found on Daniel Johnson’s web site.

During meeting 25, we announced our latest event sponsors (Viddler and Blip.tv), plans for lunch at Damon’s next door to ITT and finalizing plans for the night before (Dinner with organizers and volunteers, visit ITT and setup any last minute tables then hang out at the bar at the Damon’s).

We talked about volunteer and organizer T-shirts, we’re going to go with a blue shirt. Since last weeks meeting, Brian designed a blue shirt with the word ‘staff’ on the front and the PodCamp Ohio logo on the sleeve. We also decided that volunteers and organizers willing to buy their own t-shirt can. If you’re going to be volunteering and don’t have the means to buy your own T-shirt, please contact angelo (angelo [at] podcampohio.com) and we’ll work out getting you a Staff shirt ordered.

We also discussed event bags and possibly not getting them, but since the last meeting Angelo found a vendor who sells branded 9″x12″ at an affordable cost.

The remainder of the meeting we go on a tangent about the Smurfs, the Lost season finale that directly followed this meeting and The Office.

During meeting 24 (Held on May 22), we discussed plans for meeting volunteers the day before PodCamp. This is in addition to the last meetup on Saturday, June 21. We also discussed how we will organize volunteers for the day of the event. We decided to plan on having lunch at Damon’s next door to ITT. We’ve confirmed with Damon’s, they are ok with our music guest playing on the Damon’s patio. We also decided to keep the intro session to 20 minutes that way the event is focused on the sessions. Dave and Busters will only have 100 coupons for us to distribute to PodCamp attendees. If that remains, we will plan on giving out the Dave and Busters coupons at the end of the event.

We also talked about the current results of the sessions survey. As of current, the survey has ‘Strategies for blogging, podcasting and social network marketing’, ‘What NOT To Do. Podcasting and other Social Media Anti-Tips’ and the ‘podcasting 101′ sessions have over 40% interest. We may plan on holding these sessions in the larger rooms. Last part of the meeting we discussed the past weekends meetup on May 17. Following the meetup we visited ITT and did some video recording of the facilities then hate lunch at the Damon’s next door.

Can you believe that it’s only one month until PodCamp Ohio? Sheesh! This is my first post here, but I have to tell you that the organizers have been doing a lot of work over the past few months to get things ready for this year’s PodCamp.

And, let me tell ya, you don’t have to be an organizer to help prepare for PodCamp. You can help us as well. If you’re not already registered, please do! If you are registered, thanks so much – and now is the time to make that big push to really promote, promote, promote, and promote!

If you haven’t already, you can blog about it, podcast about it, make a video about it, put a badge on your website, put up some event flyers, buy a t-shirt, make/download/watch/listen to a PodCamp Ohio promo, listen/participate in the weekly talkshoe meetings, and a whole lot more. Are you excited yet? We only got 4 minutes to save the world – er, We only have one month until PodCamp Ohio! I’m really looking forward to meeting everybody and learning so much new stuff about new media and social networking.

Finally, don’t forget to put on your calendar the PodCamp Ohio Kickoff Party which will be on The Doctor Anonymous Show on Thursday, June 26th (2 days before PodCamp) at 9pm Eastern Time. My show is a LIVE internet radio show on BlogTalkRadio and everyone will have the opportunity to participate in the live interactive chat room and even call into the show and say hello. All this while seeing my shining face on the live webcam (scary, huh).

Here are the first two videos from the Podcamp meetup in Columbus a couple weeks ago. In the first, you can see a bit of our Panera time and then little tidbits of our wanderings through ITT Tech. The second reveals that no one at ITT Tech likes podcasting and we epic fail at interviewing.

During meeting 23 we discussed evening before plans, list some restaurants close to PodCamp, post podcamp plans (going over to Dave and Busters), ComFest, sponsors update, podcasting 101 session, the sessions survey, Doctor Anonymous pre-PodCamp on-line party, this Saturdays meetup at the Panera Bread by ITT and contacting Ohio chocolate companies to see if we can get chocolate buckeyes to include in our event bags. Close to the end of the meeting Gabe sent the Google Group a preview of the Event Guide cover (pictured).

This week we received sponsorships from PodCamp NYC Sponsors, Viddler and John Atkinson from PimpMyNews.com. We will be making blog posts thanking these sponsors over the coming week.
